Rotorua has so many motels and hotels…

05Aug10

It is often hard to decide where to stay, but now there is a new boutique hotel with the fancy name of Regent of Rotorua,  not related to the international Regent chain, but very glamorous and stylish.   A boutique hotel, it has converted an old 1950’s motel block into very swish hotel rooms.   The colour scheme is extremely smart white, black and accent colours of lime green and the odd splash of silver (in floral displays and fabric texture).   There is great attention to detail, such as generously padded headboards, the flat screen TVs are recessed in to the wall and state-of-the-art i-pod stations.

In addition to the refurbished accommodation wing, a new purpose built wing with dining room, bar on the ground floor and more accommodation upstairs surrounds the heated pool and outdoor dining area.     The colour scheme works superbly for the “public” area – the black and white theme enhanced with the use of different textures, white leather, black velvet, black lacquer, and hugh sparkling silver crown adorn the far wall – very regal and sumptuous.   Open for just a few weeks, the restaurant has already received high praise – my slight disappointment was there is only one bubbles wine by the glass, but my client’s martini was declared “excellent.”
