Golden Globe Awards

20Jan10

Red carpet walk is the time to show off your figure, glamour and fashionable focus.  The terrible weather did not deter the rich and famous and beautiful people from exposing their perfectly toned bodies. Cameron Diaz’s slinky raspberry red satin dress went against the popular strapless trend to follow the fashion for shoulder detail. Designed by Alexander McQueen the padded shoulders and short sleeves fell to a plunging deep V cowl and gave her a super-slim silhouette.

Of course there were lots of black dresses, but Sandra Bullock’s shade of purple was amazing and the billowy skirt transparent in parts. Purples and pinks lightened the dull weather.  Most shades of pink from fuchsia for Diane Kruger to soft dusky pink for Emily Blunt.  Christian Lacroix’s hot pink ruffled dress featured large rosette-styled frills at the neckline – would have preferred Diane’s hair not competing with the neckline.   Emily’s soft pink dress by Dolce and Gabanna was superb – strapless, shapely and swathed across the torso and frothy from the knee down.  Kate Hudson was a show stopper in a white Marchesa long skirt with train held in her hand and white architectural bustier.  The super low neckline was filled with feathery fabric. Long tassel pearl earrings added the final touch of glamour.

Earring and bracelets were the main accessories, necklaces were noticeable by their absences, in spite of low necks.  Choosing short instead of long was Ginnifer Goodwin in a chic cobalt blue knotted and draped dress, just above the knee. Perfect colour for her.
