Bennetts of Mangawhai
We probably are all aware of Bennetts for their scrumptious chocolates, (150 different flavours, absolute heaven for chocoholics like me), now they have opened a very impressive European inspired building with café, chocolate boutique, gelato shop, food/deli/gift store centred around French fountains.
This is an impressive operation, and the café is great. Good food, friendly service, slow, if you only want coffee, as this is a popular weekend destination. But a very nice setting, if you are waiting for your coffee/brunch/lunch/dinner.
52 Moir St, Mangawhai
“Since 1998 Mary and Clayton Bennett have been hand crafting their exquisite chocolates in Mangawhai, Northland. Combining their passion and vision, they trained in Europe and settled in coastal Mangawhai where they established a chocolaterie unlike any other in New Zealand. Custom built, furnished with French fountains and lovingly decorated, housing a state-of-the art factory, showroom, café and a charming courtyard, the building has become an instant success and a true destination for lovers of fine cuisine. The Bennetts cordially invite you to visit Mangawhai and to taste their fine chocolates, made only from the best Belgian couverture and local ingredients.”
